The Rose

A rose is beautiful and vivifying because it is connected to the ground, from where it receives the nutrients that sustain it. Should we pluck it, then it remains beautiful only briefly. But eftsoons, it starts to discolor, shrivel, wither, and harden. It becomes ugly and stiff.

That is how we are. Our inner beauty, talent, strength and vitality is only apparently inherent. For whatever quality radiates through a person is only a consequence of his being rooted in the soil of virtue that is vivified by the Son’s Light.

So it shines in uplifting beauty…through the momentary connection. But should this person, through self-will, lose connection upward or even dim this connection, then he experiences the same process as the rose. For he is subject to the same Law. The discoloration of weaknesses, the rigidity of earthly desires, the withering of wrong attitudes, the distortion of concepts, and the hardening of behaviors. He becomes ugly and stiff inwardly…until he completely dies.

To establish and maintain this connection, our will is necessary. For our desires are remotes that attune us to the channel of any energy. In that attunement, we then broadcast through our consciousness the images that are hosted on that station of energy.
