Our only possession

I say to you: the only thing we truly possess in this life is our consciousness. Everything else is temporarily borrowed! Think about it. Friends, family, job, money, circumstances, relationships, suffering, clothes, pain, appearances etc are all passing encounters. For they will forever change, come and go, ebb and flow, wax and wane…like the moon with periodic eclipses. But the only thing that stays with us for all time, and impacts how we even engage with these passing experiences is our consciousness.

It is our only property in life, our prized possession. For that is the treasure that will help us navigate life, and also the beyond when we close our eyes to this world. Therefore, ONLY that person is our true friend who encourages us to develop, refine and expand our consciousness. These friends, these rare gems, we should learn to be grateful for and treasure, because truly they give us the greatest and most important gift: Light of insight!…through which we are encouraged to inwardly refine and expand our only real possession: our consciousness. Everything else is fleeting.
