Truth with no joy is like a beautiful car with no engine. Sure it looks good and has great capabilities, but only with an engine can it come to life and take us places; can it enclose us protectively from all danger. Truth is animated by joy. Forsooth, without true joy, what we have is doctrine, not real abiding Truth.
Self-examination for each person: As adults, when we examine our day and week, does an effervescing joy suffuse our heart? Further cross-examining the day and week: how often do we truly have a hearty and rapturous laughter (devoid of passion and pleasure)?
Yes, it is beautiful to know of Truth. For Truth is like the Earth and all the beautiful life therein. But joy, true joy, is like the iridescent Sun that vivifies it.
