The inner battle

The battle to conquer yourself can be so vicious and tumultuous that you sometimes look around at the cool demeanor of others and, perplexed, start thinking…Am I just an anomaly who is more flawed than the next man? Or is the intensity of his own battle just disguised in calm appearances? But when you realize the answer to either question does not in any way alter the landscape of your own warfare and even just distracts you from what is essential, you just battle on. For each is engaged in a silent war of self-conquest, the extent to which you cannot see or understand. Thus, in the process of this effort, you courageously and confidently advance toward the sacred goal wherein your efforts will hopefully render you the victor and not the vanquished in the inner armageddon of the soul.
