The Peter Syndrome

Sad truth: regardless of how morally strong a person seems or thinks they are, under the right pressure and tremendous circumstantial duress, almost everyone is liable to cave and compromise a principle they themselves assumed were indelibly engraved into their consciousness and conviction. I call this the “Peter Syndrome” (Biblical reference). We sometimes only feel strong and advanced because we have not been tested in the inferno of trials, in moments were everything hangs in the balance.

Once you experience this, modesty and humility become your friend that robs your heart of the proclivity of leveling undue criticism about your neighbors failings.
